It was a great place for coffee. Coffee was rich and flavorful, one of the best brews I've had. Chocolate muffin was a great side. Atmosphere open and welcoming.

My knitting group loves Cafe Muse. There are great seating choices: either a big table or sofas and chairs. The staff is accommodating and hospitable and Zac is careful to reserve a space for us each week. The treats and beverages are delicious and the light is wonderful. We have enjoyed Cafe Muse as our home away from home while the North Liberty Library uses "our" room for special summer programs. We enjoy Muse so much that we're thinking about continuing to meet there occasionally.

Modern and relaxing! Such a great place to just sit and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea. I really wish there were more places like this around. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the different menu items. If I was still in college, this would be my go to study spot.

I really like the helpful staff. The menu has plenty of selections of sandwiches and desserts. Love the Tea choices. Hot or iced. They have a large variety of coffee drinks. They even may sell you coffee or tea, or cups, and the brewing equipment for your own cup at home or gifts for friends or relatives.

Today I selected Café Muse as my location for a day of working remotely. I rarely work remotely and being that I had some morning obligations in the neighboring Iowa City, I figured it would be an excellent opportunity to use the afternoon to check out a new local business. The décor of the facility was great so I was excited as I walked in. Quickly, I was greeted by the staff. Typically, this would be a positive experience and definitely a bonus to feel welcomed entering a new business for the first time. Unfortunately, quite the opposite occurred. Within two minutes, I was told by the General Manager that he could “kick my a** out” if he so desired. Thinking back to what I or my coworker had said to spark such a statement leaves me at a loss for thoughts. If I had to take a stab at remembering, my coworker and I both asked to have a dark roast in a mug. Just after, I had inquired about using some silverware to eat the lunches we had brought in. Somewhere in between saying of course, no problem!” and forgetting to give me the silverware, I was told if I just came in to eat lunch and use “his shop” without ordering anything, I would have been kicked out. Feeling a bit of abrasiveness, I naturally asked, “Are you the owner of the shop?” receiving a prompt response, “No, but I am the General Manager so I could kick you’re a** out if I wanted.” Befuddled by such a statement, I did nothing other than laugh and act like it was a joke. He then told us, “Okay, sit down and I will bring those out to you!” as if his previous statement wasn’t rude and a common thing to tell a customer. The gentlemen who brought the coffees out to our table was very kind. We had reminded this individual that we had asked for silverware and he said, “Of course!” and promptly brought it to us. After a couple of hours had past, we went up to get refills, deciding we wanted to try the decaf brew. Instead of charging the amount for a refill we had to pay full price. Inquiring as to why it couldn’t be considered a refill, the GM told us, “I just don’t sell enough decaf.” We then waited almost 15 minutes to get our pour-over decaf coffees despite the fact we were the only customers who ordered in that time frame. For the remainder of our time spent in the shop, the GM was on his laptop abrasively greeting every customer as they walked in and carrying what looked to be a beer bottle in his hand (perhaps it was just root beer, who knows). Occasionally he would sit on the ordering counter and smack his bottle on the furniture as he walked by. All in all, I was greeted with arrogance and treated as if my business did not matter. Clearly it does because he had to charge us full price for two decafs. I’ll give the place another shot because the coffee was good but hope this individual gets over the power trip and starts treating people with respect. By all means check this shop out, I love coffee and the coffee here is great. I simply hope that your experience is more enjoyable than mine.
